Youth Empowerment Services (YES!) Program - K-12 Virtual Learning Program

What is the YES program?

The Youth Empowerment Services Program (YES! Program) is a volunteer comprehensive behavior replacement
opportunity that caters to students who have been administratively referred because of violations of the
CCPS Student Code of Conduct and/or facing challenges in the traditional environment.

The YES! Program acknowledges the unique learning requirements of every student and, as such, has been
designed to provide tailored intervention tools and resources to facilitate academic success. Additionally,
the program aims to cultivate personal and social growth in students, empowering them to become
productive members of society.

Next Steps for Parents After Referral to the YES! Program

Once your child has been referred to the YES! Program by their school, the following steps must be completed to begin the enrollment process:

You must sign an agreement form from the principal or designee for your child’s placement in the YES! Program.
You are required to schedule your child’s YES! Orientation through the VLP website within two (2) business days of the referral.
You and your child are required to attend a mandatory orientation before your child can be enrolled.
Confirm your child has access to a Chromebook or other compatible device and a reliable internet connection for daily virtual attendance.
Help your child establish a daily routine to log in on time, attend live sessions, and complete assignments.
Maintain open communication with the YES! Lead to monitor progress and address any concerns.

IMPORTANT:

Failure to schedule the required appointment within this two-day window will result in the withdrawal of the referral, and the student will be returned to their zoned school for further disciplinary action.

What Parents Need to Know

Virtual-Only Participation

All students enrolled in the YES! Program will complete their instruction online. There is no in-person learning component unless otherwise communicated by the program lead.

Technology Requirements:

Students will need:

A reliable internet connection.
Access to a CCPS-issued Chromebook or personal device (if necessary).
Daily access to Classlink, Canvas, Google Drive, Email, and other instructional tools.

Daily Attendance:

Students are expected to log in daily, follow the provided schedule, and attend all sessions. Attendance is taken every day and every period.

Parental Support:

Ensuring the student logs in on time daily.
Create a quiet, distraction-free workspace.
Monitor assignments and communication from teachers.
Reach out for support when needed.

Student Responsibilities:

Attend all virtual classes and complete assigned work.
Communicate respectfully and responsibly.
Follow the CCPS Code of Conduct in the virtual setting.
Participate in behavior and academic meetings.
